Jean-Philippe Fichet's 2024 Meursault is a 100% Chardonnay from vines that generally run older-vine quality — many of his village parcels sit somewhere between 30 and 60 years old, with a few standout plots (like Gruyaches) pushing closer to 80. He farms entirely by hand and leans on hard winter pruning rather than green harvesting to keep yields naturally low. The wine spends a long élevage — roughly a year and a half total, split between mostly neutral older oak and then stainless tank, with very little lees stirring — which keeps the focus on precision rather than richness or oak influence. 2024 was a leaner, lower-yield vintage in Meursault, which usually means more concentrated, taut wines. In the glass, it's classic Meursault: lemon curd, orchard fruit, a hint of hazelnut, and a chalky, stony minerality, with bright acidity, medium-to-full weight, and a long, clean finish — drinkable now but with room to age a few more years.
