Selvapiana Chianti Rufina 'Vigneto Bucerchiale' 2022 comes from Fattoria Selvapiana, a historic Tuscan estate near Pontassieve that has belonged to the Giuntini family since 1827, now run by Federico Giuntini Masseti; the single-vineyard Bucerchiale bottling was created in 1979 with winemaker Franco Bernabei to capture the estate's finest expression of Chianti Rufina, the smallest and coolest of Chianti's subzones, where breezes off the Sieve Valley give the wines unusual finesse. Made from Sangiovese, the grape is grown organically in Selvapiana's own 12.5-hectare Bucerchiale vineyard, with vines dating back to 1968 planted on south/southwest-facing clay-limestone slopes at 150–300 meters, reflecting a producer whose reputation rests on decades of continuity, hands-on farming, and deep attachment to this particular hillside and its signature variety.
