Patrick Piuze Chablis 'Terroir de Chablis' 2024 (750ml)
Made by Patrick Piuze, a Montreal native who moved to Burgundy in 2000 and trained under Olivier Leflaive, Jean-Marc Brocard, and Jean-Marie Guffens before launching his own label in 2008. Piuze works as a négociant, sourcing old-vine fruit through close relationships with growers and hand-harvesting everything himself, even at the village level, in a region where most producers use machines. "Terroir de Chablis" comes from a small parcel on the left bank of the Serein river, just below the Montmains and Les Forêts premier crus, within the original 12th-century Chablis boundaries — planted on 100% Kimmeridgian limestone and clay. Fermented and aged in tank to preserve purity, the wine reflects the region's classic decomposed oyster-shell soils. The result is fresh and precise, with citrus, wet stone, and sea salt on the nose and a bright, saline, mineral-driven finish — often considered the most immediately accessible expression of true Chablis character in Piuze's lineup.
