Lurpak is a cultured salted butter from Denmark. It is made only from Danish milk and produced by Arla Foods. The name goes back to 1901, when Danish dairy farmers and their cooperative dairies agreed to sell their butter under one shared quality mark, the Lurmark. It takes its name from the lur, a long curved horn from the Bronze Age. Two intertwined lurs still form the logo, and only dairies that pass regular blind taste tests may use the mark. The cream is ripened with lactic cultures before it is churned, and that ripening gives the butter its delicate, rounded flavor. It takes about 20 kilos of whole milk to make one kilo of butter. This is the slightly salted version, made from cream, culture and a pinch of salt with no added colors or preservatives. It is smooth and creamy and melts cleanly. The salt is light, so the cream stays up front.
Real reviews from The Cheese Store of Beverly Hills Google Business Profile. Curated by Dom and his team since 1967.
Domenico and his team are fantastic. I’m a chef and I often get my supplies from The Cheese Store — unique products, carefully selected, from top Italian and French cheeses to excellent local ones.
Absolutely loved the cheese store! Everyone was super helpful and friendly. Lena helped us — she was very knowledgeable on all the cheeses: where they came from, what the region is like, what they are known for. It was like wine tasting for cheese.
Ordered several cheeses from them and the wrong items were delivered. Contacted the store and they recognized the error and immediately sent the correct order the next day without any fuss. Really appreciate the promptness and professionalism.
