Jean-Phillipe Fichet Bourgogne Blanc Cote d'Or 2024 (750ml)
Fichet's Bourgogne Blanc Côte d'Or is 100% Chardonnay pulled from parcels right around Meursault, so it drinks like a scaled-down version of his village wine at a fraction of the price. Vine age here is younger and more mixed than his named lieux-dits — mostly younger to middle-aged plantings, though the Vieilles Vignes version steps up with fruit from vines around 45 to 70 years old, notably a plot near Puligny. Farming and cellar work follow his usual playbook: everything hand-tended, low yields from hard winter pruning, then a long, patient élevage of about 18 months split between mostly neutral older oak and stainless tank, with barely any lees stirring to keep things clean and precise. In the glass it's bright and easy-drinking — lemon, green apple, and white flowers with a stony edge, medium-light body, crisp acidity, and a finish that runs longer than you'd expect for an entry-level bottling. It's built to drink young rather than cellar.
