Feudi di San Gregorio was founded in 1986 in Sorbo Serpico, in the hills of Irpinia inland from Naples. It became a leader in the revival of Campania’s native grapes, showing the world what Aglianico, Fiano, Greco and Falanghina could do with careful, modern winemaking. Today it is the largest family-owned winery in southern Italy, and in 2022 it became a certified B Corp for its commitment to sustainability and to protecting the region’s winegrowing heritage. San Greg is the estate’s take on a mountain rosé. It is made entirely from Aglianico, the noble red grape behind the region’s powerful Taurasi. The grapes come from high hillside vineyards around 700 meters above sea level, where cool nights keep the fruit fresh and lively. They are picked by hand and kept in brief contact with the skins, just long enough to give a pale, bright pink color without the grape’s usual tannic grip. The wine then ages for four months in stainless steel. The result shows Aglianico’s natural acidity and savory, mineral character in a light, easygoing form. Created as a tribute to the carefree spirit of la dolce vita, it is a fresh, food-friendly rosé from one of the most important wineries in the Italian south.
