Famille Perrin Vinsobres 'Les Cornuds' (750ml)
Famille Perrin owns Château de Beaucastel in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, which Pierre Tramier bought in 1909 and passed to his son-in-law Pierre Perrin. Brothers Jean-Pierre and François work alongside their children, the fifth generation, and the family has farmed organically since 1950. Les Cornuds comes from their Vinsobres estate, about 40 kilometres north of Châteauneuf: around 60 hectares in a single plot, averaging 300 metres on hills and terraces of stony, sandy marl. It is the northernmost vineyard of the southern Rhône, and in 2006 Vinsobres became the first Côtes du Rhône cru in the Drôme, an appellation for red wine only. The Grenache and Syrah are hand-harvested and fully destemmed. Grenache ferments in stainless steel, Syrah in wooden vats, and part of the Syrah ages in one-year-old barrels before blending. This bottle carries the Perrins' organic tradition and the cool, peppery lift that altitude gives Vinsobres Syrah.
