Failla Pinot Noir Willamette Valley 2023 (750ml)
The 2023 Failla Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, comes from founder and winemaker Ehren Jordan, who launched Failla in 1998 on California's Sonoma Coast before expanding into Oregon, drawn by the promise of the Willamette Valley's cool-climate sites. This bottling draws grapes from four notable vineyards across the Northern Willamette Valley — Amity Hills, Seven Springs, Björnson, and Eola Springs — chosen for their diverse terroir and mature vines that add layers of complexity. The fruit is farmed under practicing organic methods, and in the cellar Jordan takes a gentle, hands-off approach: fermentation relies on native yeast with 25% whole cluster, and the wine ages 14 months sur lie in just 10% new French oak before being bottled unfined and unfiltered. On the nose and palate, the wine shows rose petals, orange zest, cranberries, and pomegranate seeds, with mouth-watering acidity, well-structured tannins, and flavors of fresh mushroom and brambly red berries. What makes it special is the combination of thoughtful, minimal-intervention winemaking with fruit sourced from some of the Willamette Valley's most respected vineyard sites — a wine that stays true to Oregon Pinot Noir's cool-climate character while reflecting Failla's site-driven philosophy.
