Domaine Berthelemot Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 2023 (750ml)
Made by Domaine Berthelemot, a relatively young estate founded in 2006 in Meursault, formed from the merger of two established Côte de Beaune holdings. Under founder Brigitte Berthelemot and estate manager Marc Cugney, the domaine farms roughly 15 hectares across the Côte de Beaune, certified organic since the 2021 vintage, and has quickly built a reputation for precision and finesse, particularly in its whites. This Corton-Charlemagne comes from vines on the "En Charlemagne" lieu-dit in Pernand-Vergelesses, planted between 1940 and 2015 on a steep, southwest-facing slope around 280 to 330 meters in altitude — complex, sometimes shallow soil over limestone, the kind of site that gives Corton-Charlemagne its power and cut. Farmed with close attention to the vines and soil, and made from 100% Chardonnay, this Grand Cru is built to age, with depth and tension that reward patience in the cellar. Expect a wine of real structure — citrus, white flowers, and a chalky, mineral backbone — that unfolds over years into something even more complex.
