The vineyards sit at the foot of Mont Granier on one of the most dramatic terroirs in France. In 1248 a huge section of the mountain collapsed and spread rock and rubble across the valley floor. The cru takes its name from that event: \"Abymes\" comes from the old French for \"ruined,\" a nod to the broken limestone the vines now grow in. Here the Labbés grow Jacquère, the Savoie's own white grape. They ferment it with native yeasts in neutral tanks and large casks so nothing hides its crisp, mountain-fresh character. The result is a bright, light-bodied white with a cool mineral edge that tastes of the Alps.
