He joined the business at fifteen, as its third generation, and spent nearly eight decades learning the hills of Barolo and Barbaresco vineyard by vineyard. In 1980 he began buying prime parcels in Serralunga d’Alba, La Morra and Barbaresco, and his wines became benchmarks for the purity of Nebbiolo. Since his death in 2018, his daughter Bruna has carried the house forward, holding to his traditions while using the best of modern technology. For this Nebbiolo d’Alba, Giacosa looks across the Tanaro River to the Roero, drawing on vineyards in Monteu Roero, Santo Stefano Roero and Vezza d’Alba. Here, on the river’s left bank, the soils are sandy and calcareous, lighter than the marls of Barolo, and they give Nebbiolo a perfumed, more approachable side. The vines are twenty to thirty years old. The grapes ferment spontaneously and macerate for about twenty-five days in steel, then the wine ages fourteen months in French oak. In 2024, a rainy spring ended two years of drought in the Langhe and Roero but kept growers busy against mildew. A warm, fairly dry summer followed, and Nebbiolo was picked in early October from a balanced crop. Growers expected slightly finer, less alcoholic wines than in recent hot years. It is a graceful introduction to one of Piedmont’s great names, Nebbiolo from the Roero made with the same exacting hand as Giacosa’s Barolo and Barbaresco.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Breakthru Beverage California","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":51494470058153,"sku":"90000541","price":65.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false}],"url":"https:\/\/cheesestore.com\/products\/bruno-giacosa-nebbiolo-dalba-2024-750ml","provider":"The Cheese Store of Beverly Hills | Domenico's Foods","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
